The Sky's The Limit

A few months ago UK air tax was increased, mainly on long haul flights, to try and dissuade budget flights. One of the reasons given for this was that it would help the environment. How is it that today in the news EU transport ministers have backed an 'Open Skies' deal that will 'boost competition between airlines and lead to lower air fares.' mainly between Europe and the USA? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6477969.stm
One minute we're being told flying is bad for the world, the next minute the same people are backing the idea of more flights! When you read that the UK tax hike was rushed in and then re-read today's news, is it cynical to think that the tax increase had nothing to do with the environment and more to do with just making extra money from people wanting to leave the country?

In The Beginning...

What is happening in the world today? A big question to answer and one that is full of many contradictions and complications. Life is full of people who seem to think that they know the best way for people to live their lives even though they regularly appear in the media showing the world that they don't know the best way to live their own. It annoys me so instead of seething to myself I've decided to put my rants down. If anyone else agrees with me then it'll be nice to know that I'm not the only one.
